In this series of conferences and retreat sermons, Father Emmerich meditates on the mystery of the Cross, why there is suffering in the world, and God’s response to suffering.

Being aware of our shameful sins, we should draw great consolation in God’s free gift of His mercy, shown in love by His Cross. Journalist John Allen recently noted, “It is a statistical fact that today the greatest danger zones for Christians are also places where the Church is growing rapidly.”

Why is this the case? Because the death of Christ as a criminal for the salvation of souls is the greatest display of love. Our martyrs witness to love’s mercy. In these conferences Father Emmerich explores this thesis.
